COMING OUT AS A CHRISTIAN - HANDLING CONFLICT IN THE NHS
When: Saturday 26 June
Where: Bawtry Hall, Doncaster
Time: not yet confirmed.
Hosted by: CMF

You've heard about cases of Christian health professionals facing disciplinaries and suspension over matters of faith, which have attracted a lot of publicity. Come and hear from Christian health professionals whose practice brought them directly into conflict with authorities in an increasingly hostile NHS and an aggressively secular societal environment.

Find out why spiritual care is good for patients, and therefore why the NHS pays lip service to the concept. Find out what the law, the NHS, and various professional bodies actually say. Find out what God says.

Join a discussion about how you can prevent problems but be prepared for them; how together we can support individual Christians; how we can work centrally in Parliament, the media, and the institutions; and how you can change things at the grassroots

PRIME TUTOR TRAINING CONFERENCE
17-19 June, Kirkintilloch, Glasgow

PRIME has worked for two decades bringing a Biblically based, whole person model of health and healing into medical education and training in an expanding number of nations. It is now working with Nurses Christian Fellowship International to develop similar training programmes for nurses, and is looking for nurse tutors with passion for training the next generation of nurses in Eastern Europe, Africa and Asia in a Biblically routed, high professional standard of whole person care.

This three day tutor training conference in Scotland will focus on that training, and is for anyone interested in nurse education at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

WHO IS MY NEIGHBOUR?: MEDICAL MISSION DAY CONFERENCE
20 March, John Radcliffe Hospital, Oxford

Who is my neighbour in today’s global village? The Good Samaritan helped a stranger because he saw his desperate need. How can we respond to the enormous needs we see in other parts of the world? There are many ways we can get involved - going, giving, praying, partnering, teaching, training - juniors, seniors, students and retirees can all play a part in bringing God’s love and care to people in the poorest parts of the world.

This day conference aims to inform and envision Christian health professionals from all disciplines about healthcare mission and international work. We will learn from the Bible, from interactive presentations and from one another about the needs and opportunities to serve - there will be a chance to meet others who have worked abroad in different settings, and to learn about the work of different mission organisations. Above all, it will be a time to consider how we can respond to God’s call to serve the poor.

See www.cmf.org.uk/internationalministries for booking information and details of this and other events related to overseas mission, or email healthserve@cmf.org.uk

DEVELOPING HEALTH COURSE

When: 20th June - 2nd July 2010

This two week course is designed to impart appropriate knowledge and skills to healthcare professionals working in resource-poor countries or planning to go.

The Developing Health Course provides high-quality training for work in resource-poor settings. The course covers a wide range of topics and includes practical workshops as well as lectures and case-based learning. See last year's programme here.

The course is aimed both at those currently working overseas who want to update their knowledge, and those who are planning to go who want to be equipped for the work they will do. In addition, many who are simply interested in international work have found it a useful opportunity to learn more about it and explore the possibilities of getting involved.
