Career Opportunity- Hamlin College of Midwives, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia\Dr Catherine Hamlin at the Addis Ababa Fistula Hospital, has been working to improve maternal health in Ethiopia for more than 50 years. The Hamlin College of Midwives had its first BSc graduates in 2010. We plan to staff and mentor Hamlin Midwives in 25 rural clinics and also to train leaders in Maternal health for the future.

Due to the small number of well trained midwives in Ethiopia, we seek academic staff who can work alongside their Ethiopian colleagues to build capacity and competence. We have an excellent facility close to the capital Addis Ababa, an innovative curriculum and a world renowned reputation. Transport and accommodation would be provided.

We seek suitably qualified Midwives to join our leadership team.  The applicant will be:

        I.            A midwife with further postgraduate qualifications, at the Masters level or higher.

      II.            A track record of clinical experience and flexibility to see the needs in a rural developing location, preferably some overseas experience.

    III.            Leadership skills and ready to work with the team. Making a commitment for at least 2 years.

    IV.            Experience in an academic setting, involved in training.

This position has the possibility to be supported by Australian Volunteers International and AUSAid as well Hamlin Fistula Australia, our fundraising partner. Hamlin Fistula Ethiopia is an organisation with a Christian Ethos and applicants should be ready to work within this setting.
