Clinical Sciences Centre
Aintree University Hospital

This conference is an opportunity for Christians in the NHS to have time out to be inspired, uplifted and refreshed! You don't need to be a regular church-goer and it's for both clinical and non-clinical staff. There are many over-worked, tired and stressed NHS workers and these conferences are an ideal opportunity to spend some time out with God and be encouraged.

Christian leadership in nursing practice: a day conference for nurses, midwives and students

26 October 2013, St Mark's Church, Gabalfa, Cardiff

The quality of leadership in a nursing or midwifery team profoundly influences patient care, team morale and the future development of team members. Recent scandals highlight the devastating impact of poor leadership on care delivered to patients. Quality example, supervision, good management and interpersonal skills are essential in an effective leader. Today leadership if often seen as being about power and status, knowledge and control. The Biblical understanding of leadership offers a refreshing and challenging alternative vision. The Christian nurse/midwife has something special to bring to their leadership as a consequence. This day conference sets out to envision those who are seeking to develop a godly framework for their work. This is relevant at every level, from students preparing for a career in nursing or midwifery, to the senior nurse or midwife, and at every point in between. There will be inspiration, refreshment and a chance to exchange experiences and learning.

Advance Notice

The Ninth European Regional Quadrennial Conference of NCFI
will be held 18-22 September 2014 at Santa MarĂa de los Negrales , Madrid.
The conference theme will be The Christian Heritage of Holistic Nursing: A vision for the future
Much is written today about whole person care and its central place in nursing practice, but this is not a new idea.  In the historic role of the churches in caring for the sick, dying and disabled, the emphasis was as much on caring for the spiritual needs of the person as it was on the physical, social or psychological needs.

What can we learn from this Christian heritage as we seek to practice holistic nursing in twenty first century Europe? This conference will bring together nursing researchers, educators and nurse practitioners from across the continent and beyond to explore the history, present practice and future direction of whole person nursing informed by the Christian faith and heritage in holistic care.

There will be call for abstracts and further information on speakers, programme and booking going live on www.ncfieurope.org very shortly.
